What is Reformer Pilates?
A Reformer is a specific Pilates machine. Pilates is a form of exercise that utilises all the muscles within the body. You perform a routine of exercises in class to gain a full body conditioning workout.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable and that you can move reasonably freely in. Leggings or track pants and a T-shirt are a common choice.
When do I need to arrive?
Arrive 5-10 minutes prior to class. If you haven’t been to the studio before give yourself a little more time so you can find us.
NB: If you arrive quite early the doors may not be open - but don’t fret, your instructor will let you in at least 10min before the class starts.
Is there parking?
There are car parks directly outside the studio, and nearby, within City Works Depot (CWD). These are pay and display.
Get the T Park app for parking at CWD, load your registration and card to save time.
Alternatively, you can park on Cook Street for regular city rates.
I’m pregnant, can I still come to class?
- You are welcome to attend all classes up to 16 weeks.
- From 16 to 20 weeks you can attend Beginners classes only*.
- Once you reach 20 weeks you can continue with a personalised pilates programme, a semi private prenatal class or a prenatal group class.
NB: It is with each instructors discretion to allow attendance in regular group classes. In some instances it may be necessary for clients to opt for private/semi private sessions.
*you must be able to perform exercises lying on your back. Options for Reformer Pilates during pregnancy:
- 1:1 Instructed sessions
- 2:1 Instructed sessions
- Private group class with 3 or more
- Prenatal classes
What do I need to bring?
Bring along a water bottle which you can fill up in the studio.
Will I sweat?
Our Reformer Pilates classes encourage a ‘glow’ however if you know you have a tendency to sweat bring a sweat towel.
We also have showers on site and complimentary towels for use with these.
Can I bring my child?
Unfortunately under no circumstances do we allow children to wait in the studio during open group sessions. This applies all year round, including school holidays.
Can I leave early?
It is greatly preferred that you stay for the duration of your class. If something unforeseen comes up, and you absolutely must leave early, please inform your teacher (upon arrival if possible) so they can assist with your departure. This will help to lessen the disruption for the rest of those in class.
How many beginner classes do I need to attend?
Everyone varies, you may attend just 3 or you could stay in Beginners for good - it is dependent on strength, awareness in class, your ability to follow instructions, and your mind-to-body connection. Our beginners classes are a good challenge! But if you feel you may be ready for Intermediate level, ask your instructor if you could give one a go.
What happens when I go on a waitlist?
Once a class is full, you’ll need to waitlist if you want to get a spot in that specific session.
We allow up to 4 clients to waitlist for any one class, you’ll take a place on that list.
When a spot comes up/someone cancels, you’ll receive an email notification that you’ve automatically been placed in the class.
If your plans have changed and you don’t intend on taking a Reformer, you need to let us know asap so that you don’t lose a session.
NB: You are only charged once you move into the class but you must have an active pass/membership in order to join a waitlist.
